PET Masterbatches crystallization by Infrared crystal dryer

Infrared crystal dryer continuous processing

IRD Technology are often used in PET Application such as Thermoforming sheet, Strapping, Cast film and recycling production

Lianda has designed 2 types of Infrared crystal dryer to satisfy different customers’ requirement on the crystallization of PET Masterbatch. One is Continuous LIANDA IRD which can satisfy the companies who run rather large capacity of plastic masterbatches and don’t change the color very often. Another is Batch Lianda IRD which can satisfy the companies who run smaller capacity like 80-200kg/h with frequent color change. Such type design supply the proper and sufficient cleaning as well as quick start up times.

The ADVANTAGES of IRD crystallize PET color masterbatch

No. Infrared Crystal Dryer Conventional Crystallizer
1 Easy to clean and change color
The drum can be opened completely,no hidden spots and can be cleaned easily with a vacuum cleaner
Have to be completely disassembled, cleaned and fixed
2 Rotary drying system, its rotating speed can be increased as high as possible to get an excellent mixing of pellets. It is good in agitation, the masterbatch will not be clumped Poor agitation, easy to be clumped
3 Can satisfy different type of Masterbatch (Drying temperature and time can be adjustable by the property of raw material) The drying temperature is fixed
4 Crystallization time 15-20mins depends on the material kind Need 2 hours or more
5 Energy consumption of Infrared dryer is only 1/3 of Convention crystallizer

How Lianda Infrared dryer to crystallize PET Masterbatch?

Infrared crystal dryer continuous processing

Processing Explanation

1) At first step, the only target is to heat up the material to a preset temperature.

Adopt relatively slow speed of drum rotating, the Infrared lamps power of the dryer will be at a higher level, then the PET Masterbatch will have a fast heating till the temperature rises to the preset temperature.

2) Crystallization step

Once the material gets to the critical crystallization temperature, the speed of the drum will be increased to a much higher rotating speed to avoid the clumping of the material. At the same time, the infrared lamps power will be increased again to finish the crystallization. Then the drum rotating speed will be slowed down again. Normally the crystallization process will be finished after 15-20mins. (The exact time depends on the property of material)

3) After finishing the crystallization processing, the IR Drum will automatically discharge the material and refill the drum for the next cycle

The automatic refilling as well as all relevant parameters for the different temperature ramps is fully integrated in the state-of-the-art Touch Screen control. Once parameters and temperature profiles are found for a specific material, theses settings can be saved as recipes in the control system.
